A Good George III Mahogany Knife Box

Description

A fine quality and totally original late 18th century mahogany CUTLERY or KNIFE BOX in excellent condition.

The particularly well-figured sloping lid opens to reveal the original fitted interior, with spaces for 42 items of cutlery and three serving implements. The inside of the lid is also beautifully figured and inlaid with a star in boxwood an ebony, whilst the leading edges of the serpentine front and lid are inset with attractive chequer stringing. Some items of plated cutlery included.
