Superb Japanese Enamelled Iron Box Ryusai Mitsuaki

19th century
Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this wonderful Japanese iron box , the silver gilded interior is nicely decorated to the inner lid with a tranquil lakeside scene and is artist signed , the exquisite lid is richly decorated in multi coloured metals and enamels to form a floral spray, the lid is further signed with an incised signature and a gold seal, we have had this translated as Ryusai Mitsuaki although signatures of the Meiji period can be open to different interpretations.

The condition is lovely throughout with no damage or losses to the enamel and only minor age related wear.

A simply superb and increasingly rare investment !
