Carse Antiques has dated this piece to the 1800s.

The lift up top then allows the front to come down which reveals a very fine fully fitted interior. The top section all with divisions and a lift out box in the centre is all in some kind of rosewood. Below that we have one long and two small drawers veneered in tulip-wood and rosewood. The drawer linings are of the same rosewood as the top section, all the drawers are dovetailed together.

The lift up top has a fitted mirror. The full down front has its original leather insert which is hinged and can be set to any height via a very small ratchet set underneath.
The box is in fantastic overall condition, there are a couple of very good old veneer repairs and the knobs to the two smaller drawers have lost their faces but this is being super critical. The whole piece is the most wonderful colour.
Initially you might think this box is either French or Dutch but under further close examination you realise it is certainly English.
