Prettiest Antique French Marquetry Inlaid Box C.1860

Description

A magnificent and pretty box, one of the most delightful I have had in a while. The shaped box with it's domed lid is covered in Burr Cedar with Kingwood cross-banding.

The box is inlaid with a ribbon and bow design created from Kingwood and Harewood and finished with Mother of Pearl. The little nacre stars really do sparkle like stars in the light.

The box opens to reveal the original mirror in the lid with the bottom having been re-lined in a suitable paper creating a fresh clean finish, ready to use for whatever you wish.

Dating to around 1860, the box remains in excellent condition. 8 3/4" x 6" x 4".
