A Charming Tortoiseshell Sewing Box

Description

A delightful mid-19th century tortoiseshell SEWING BOX in mint condition.

The slightly domed tortoiseshell lid is inlaid with silver "pique-work" with a vacant silver cartouche to the centre. This opens to reveal the interior with its original contents which include the embossed silver tape measure; MOP waxer; MOP needle-cleaner and various tools which include original scissors; silver pencil; penknife etc.

A very pretty box of compact size, in absolutely perfect condition.
