Description

These wonderfully striking boxes are so very hard to find and usually very small, this being a much larger example.

French in origin and dating to the late nineteenth century, around 1880, this box could live in the most traditional or most modern of interiors; a really versatile and dramatic piece.

The central panels which make this such a special and rare piece is made from Burr Palm; surrounded by a dark Ceylon Ebony.

The box has a long piano hinge and opens to reveal a dark Rosewood interior. The box comes with the tasselled key shown, purely for show, the original lock is not working, but the key finishes off the box perfectly.

Excellent quality and condition. 9" x 6 1/2" x 3".
