Writing Box George III Mahogany Rare Tambour Top C1800

Here we have a rare George III Mahogany tambour topped writing box c1800. As you can see the Mahogany has a delicious rich colour and patina. The tambour top folds back when the drawer is pulled and the mechanism is in great working order. The drawer has an open compartment which the writing slope rests on. The writing slope is baize lined and edged in crossbanded Satinwood. The top of the writing slope pulls down to reveal two Mahogany Lined drawers with Satinwood fronts and original Ivory knobs. The top sides and back have wonderful reeded decoration of the best execution I have seen. The box retains its original quality brass handles. A wonderful early period writing slope in lovely retail condition. The dimensions are approx 14 inches wide 7.5 high and 10.5 deep.
