English William IV Glove Box in Rosewood with Mother of Pearl Inlay C.1830

Description

A handsome early nineteenth century box, originally made to store gloves and today used as a table or desk-top box, perfect for storing a variety of bits and pieces, particularly popular for the storage of pens.

Made from Rosewood, the top is beautifully inlaid with cut Mother of Pearl with a complimentary inlaid escutcheon to the front. The lid of the box is framed in a carved beading, typical of the William IV period.

The interior has been re-lined in a hand-marbelled paper, creating a fresh and clean finish, ready for use. Excellent condition, measuring 9" x 3 1/2" x 2".
