Magnificent English Regency Harewood Inlaid Rosewood Jewellery Box C.1820

Description

A stunning and most unusual early 19th century jewellery or desk box made from exotic Rosewood with the most stunning floral marquetry inlay on all sides of the box including a single bloom on the back.

The top of the box incorporates some Mother of Pearl inlay including a butterfly, quite charming.

The box opens to reveal a fresh, clean interior having been relined in a hand-marbled paper and incorporating a removable tray.

Complete with a working key, the box, dating to around 1820, remains in excellent condition. 12" x 9 1/2" x 5".
