A Very Good Tunbridge-ware Stationery Box

Description

A fine example of a mid-Victorian Tunbridge-ware "Castle-Top" STATIONERY BOX in excellent original condition.

The domed lid features a highly detailed marquetry scene of a castle (Battle Abbey in Sussex) within a border of tesserated woods, with a further wide band of roses to the concave front, sides and back.

The lid opens to reveal the original fitted interior, with compartments for envelopes and writing paper etc.
