Antique English Burl Walnut and Tunbridge Inlaid Tea Caddy C.1860

Description

A really fabulous example of it's type, particularly good quality and superb condition.

The top and front is veneered in the most beautiful burr Walnut with it's rich Cognac colour and decorative curly grain. The edges are cross-banded in Tulipwood and the box front and top inlaid with fine quality geometric Tunbridge inlay.

The front has a Mother of Pearl escutcheon framed in more inlay with a matching cartouche to the centre of the lid.

The lid is opened to reveal two lidded compartments, one for Green Tea and one for Black Tea.

Excellent condition with a good bright patina. 7" x 4 1/4" x 4 1/2" tall. Complete with a working tasselled key.
