Exquisite Inlaid Coromandel Writing Box

Description

An exceptionally high quality mid-Victorian Writing Box, made from Coromandel wood with fine Brass and Abalone Inlaid decoration. The box opens to reveal a tooled and gilt leather writing surface with storage wells and concealed compartment beneath. Fitted with 2 matched ink wells, letter rack and Coromandel wood pen tray with compartment beneath. The whole lined in Mahogany complete with makers stamp "Mechi", 4 Leadenhall St. London of whom was renowned for making luxury high quality goods. Lovely colour and condition throughout. Circa 1850
