Magnificent Antique English Brass, Pearl & Abalone Shell Inlaid Box C.1850

Description

Pretty as a picture, I could sell boxes like this all day long, however this is only the first one I have had in the whole of 2013, they are scarce and scarcer to find in such wonderful condition.

Made from exotic Coromandel, the top and front is beautifully inlaid with intricate and exquisite foliate engraved brass, Mother of Pearl and Abalone Shell to create this beautiful table or desk box.

The interior has been re-lined in a hand marbled paper to create a fresh and clean interior. Unfortunately, there isn't a key as the lock is not working but better to retain the original lock than to replace it.

Just magnificent and in excellent condition. 11 3/4" x 8 3/4" x 4 3/4" tall.
