Mid 19thc Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy of Small Proportions

A mid 19thc tortoiseshell tea caddy of small proportions in good original condition.

The caddy is rectangular in shape with a slightly domed lid with pewter or possibly silver stringing and has a brass central plaque on the lid.

As seen on the photos there is an ivory banding and when the caddy is closed this forms a stringing effect between the lid and the main box.

When the lid is opened the caddy displays a tortoiseshell lid with a bone or ivory finial.

Underneath this lid is one section for black tea

The piece stands on four ivory bun feet.

This tea caddy is of small proportions and is in good original condition and would be a good addition to any collection.
