Regency Brass-inlaid Writing Box

Description

A good quality early 19th century Regency period brass-inlaid rosewood WRITING BOX in excellent condition.

The outside is most impressive, with profuse brass inlay of flowers and leaves; a central cartouche and escutcheon, whilst to either side are recessed brass military-style handles.

The interior is largely original with its original gilt-tooled navy blue leather writing surface; brass-topped ink bottle; original braidwork inside one surface (for keeping notes, visiting cards etc) and three "secret" drawers.
