George III Oval Tea Caddy

Description

A good and thoroughly original late 18th century George III period OVAL TEA CADDY in excellent condition.

Veneered overall in sycamore (often referred to as "harewood" in small pieces including caddies) this good caddy features an oval conch shell panel to the top, whilst the front is marquetry inlaid with pansies and leaves arranged around the ivory navette-shaped key escutcheon.

The lid opens to reveal the original hinge and lock and much of the original lead lining. Good caddy.
