It was listed by Puckerings. Sold pieces stay on Sellingantiques as a record of what has passed through, and the next one is rarely far away.
Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The slope fronted doors have a beautiful curved edging, all cross-banded, a real sign of quality.

The cabinet opens (the left-hand door requires the brass button to be pushed in to release the door) to reveal a fully fitted interior, with the door interior on the left for notes and business cards and the framed slate on the opposite door to write notes etc.

There are two top-notch period inkwells (which I added to finish off the interior - a couple of tiny chips) either side of the removable pen tray with space underneath for keeping pens, nibs and the like. There are various sections to store stationery.

There is also a drawer to the bottom of the box which can only be slid open while the box is unlocked and is held secure when the doors are shut. The dip pen shown is not included in the sale and for photographic purposes only.

A beautiful and useful desk-top gem for the lady or gentleman. Excellent condition, measuring 13 x 9 3/4" x 12 1/4" tall at the rear. Complete with working key.
