The two doors open to reveal a fully fitted interior, very usable today.
The box came to me without any inkwells so I have put in two newer brass topped inkwells to complete the look, they need to be removed in order to tip up the Ebonised removable pen tray with storage below.

The right-hand door retains the original framed slate, which was used with a pencil, and erased, it is cracked and has been glued by my restorer, many collectors prefer the original slate rather than a replacement, but my restorer would replace for you if you would prefer.

The top of the left hand door has a brass catch which fits into the hole at the front of the domed top and when the right door is shut and locked, the entire piece remains securely locked, the box comes with the original top-notch Bramah lock and working key.

A fine example in superb condition, as stylish as they come! The footprint measures 13 1/2" wide x 11" deep and the cabinet stands 13" tall to top of domed top.
