Superb English Regency Tea Caddy - Brass Inlaid Rosewood C.1820

Description

A striking early nineteenth century tea caddy made from exotic Rosewood and decorated with brass inlay and stringing including all the edges, a highly sought-after example.

Either side is mounted with a regal brass Lion's head and beaded ring handle. The box comes complete with a working tasselled key once opens reveals a double compartment interior with lids again inlaid with brass and two impressive large turned Ivory knobs. The inside of the lid has been professionally relined in a hand-marbled paper, in perfect keeping.

As delightful as they come in excellent condition, measuring 8" wide x 5 1/4" deep x 6 1/2" tall.
