Antique English Pewter Double Flapped Inkstand or Standish, Circa 1770

Description

Antique English pewter Inkstand or Standish with two hinged flaps, one side with three compartments for the original inkwell, sand sprinkler and wafer; the other side is a full length compartment for pens.

The lid has been engraved with two banded lines around the outside and numerous old scratched initials.

The condition is excellent with a polished silver finish; there is an old repair to the hinge.

Circa 1770.
