Cloverleaf Home Interiors has dated this piece to the Before 1700 period.
Here we have a super 17th century Oak bible box on a later Victorian stand. As you can see the box has lovely colour and patina. The original hinges are in place as is the lining paper which is more 18th century. The chest has a chipped carved edge and lunette carving to the front. The stand being later is a perfect fit and therefore made for the box. The inside and back are dark and crusty as you would expect. A very good example in lovely original condition solid throughout. The dimensions are approx 21 inches wide 22 high 12 deep.
