It was listed by Puckerings. Sold pieces stay on Sellingantiques as a record of what has passed through, and the next one is rarely far away.
Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1870s.

One side has some small stationery compartments and a small lidded section (with carved Mother of Pearl knob), the other side has a large pen tray. The middle section retains the two original cut glass inkwells with papier mache lids. One of the inkwells has a rim chip and the central lid has a small corner ship, both mentioned purely for accuracy.

The exterior is a real joy, highly decorative with a large Peacock and beautifully hand-painted floral vignettes, all beautifully finished with gilding still very much intact.
Excellent condition with minor wear commensurate with age. 10 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 3 1/2" while closed.
