It was listed by Puckerings. Sold pieces stay on Sellingantiques as a record of what has passed through, and the next one is rarely far away.
Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1860s.
The box has a campaign or military look with the inset flush brass handles to the sides carried through to the drawer fronts, all with the same polished handles.
The interior of the drawers is lined in Cedar wood which is what kept cigars fresh; this is not officially a Humidor as these are modern inventions to regulate the humidity within; it is the Cedar lining that did this job well over 100 years ago.
The cabinet comes complete with a working taselled key .. a stunning box in excellent condition. A grand size with a footprint measuring 16" x 11 1/2" and standing 15 1/2" tall.
