Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1800s.

The box is military or campaign in style with brass strapping that wraps right around the sides to the back and front, most unusual. The top is inlaid with a thick brass stringing.
The interior is just beautiful with all edges bound in brass, the box also comes complete with it's original top quality Bramah lock and key. The inside of the lid retains it's original deep Burgundy coloured tufted velvet, typical of the William IV period, around 1830. The base and bee professionally and sympathetically re-lined in a hand-marbled paper, created a good clean finish, ready for use.
One of the very best I have had of it's kind, in excellent condition. 12 1/4" x 9 1/2" x 5" high.
