Antique English Burl Walnut & Tunbridge Inlaid Table Box C.1860

Description

A wonderful and most useful Victorian table box, perfect for a desk tidy or to keep those remote controls out of sight!

Made from rich Cognac coloured Burr Walnut, the edges are trimmed in Ebony wood. Two bands of Tunbridge style parquetry inlay with a variety of woods, there is complimentary inlay surrounding the Mother of Pearl plaque to the top and the escutcheon to the front. The top plaque has feint engraved original initials, I believe M.J.M.B.

The interior has been relined in a hand-marbled paper, in keeping to create a lovely clean finish. Complete with a working key.

Excellent condition, one small filled dent to front, insignificant but mentioned for accuracy - see photos. Professionally repolished to showcase this beauty. 10 3/4" x 7 3/4" x 4 3/4".
