Handsome Military / Campaign Brass Bound Rosewood Box C.1840

Description

A wonderful decorative jewelry or desk-top box, perfect for either a lady or gentleman in exotic & expensive Rosewood, brass bound in a military or campaign style.

The wood is bound with brass straps running from the back, across the top and down the front, complimenting the brass plaque on the top and an inlaid escutcheon housing the working key.

The interior houses a removable tray and has been re-lined in a hand-marbled paper, perfectly in keeping. - mentioned purely for accuracy).

The top has an old ring mark to one corner, mentioned purely for accuracy. Excellent condition, dating to around 1840, early Victorian in era, and measuring 10 3/4" x 7 1/2" x 4 1/2".
