This pair of petite bedside chests is in the Victorian period and the Georgian style, constructed from mahogany with a warm brown colour and rich timber grain. Each compact table has three stacked drawers fitted with small dark turned wooden knobs, simple square-section legs, and a decorative curved apron. The wood shows a smooth polished finish with expected minor signs of age and use across the surfaces. Measuring 72 cm high, 28 cm wide, and 21 cm deep, these slender cabinets suit smaller bedrooms or tight spaces next to a bed where standard furniture cannot fit. They function well as bedside tables to hold lamps, books, and nighttime essentials while adding a traditional English country house character to the room.

FAQs

Georgian style mahogany bedside chests typically feature clean lines, rich mahogany veneers, turned wooden knob handles, and elevated bases supported by straight or tapered legs.

Traditional mahogany furniture construction incorporates solid mahogany structural elements paired with secondary timber drawer linings such as pine or oak, fitted using dovetail joinery.

Authentic period pieces display indicators such as hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer casings, timber shrinkage marks around joints, hand-planed back boards, and natural surface wear.

Position one chest on either side of a bed framed by contemporary table lamps, or place them as narrow occasional side tables in a living space to add warmth and storage.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a thin layer of natural beeswax polish annually, keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
