This Georgian whisky dram glass is a clear lead and flint glass stemware piece from the late 18th century, dating to approximately 1790. The upper section of the large bucket bowl displays a broad engraved geometric band of vesica and diamond motifs filled with fine cutting, above a lower section featuring vertical panel cuts, a column-cut stem, and a circular foot with a polished pontil. The visual details include clear glass surfaces, polished ovals, and star engravings. The glass stands 9.2 cm high with a rim diameter of 5.2 cm and a foot diameter of 5.7 cm, and weighs 87 grams. In a contemporary home, this small footed drinking vessel sits appropriately on a sideboard top in a gentleman's library or dining room, ready to serve spirits or to display as part of a historical glassware collection. The clear material and traditional silhouette complement period table settings as well as glass display cabinets.

Late 18th-century Georgian dram glasses were designed for serving small measures of spirits such as whisky or brandy. Typically crafted with heavy lead glass, they feature engraved geometric or floral bands around the rim paired with panelled or faceted bowl bases.

Artisans utilised high-lead content flint glass, valued for clarity and refractive qualities. Patterns were manually cut into the glass using iron or stone wheels fed with abrasive slurry, followed by polishing with wooden wheels and tin oxide.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit slight asymmetry from hand-crafting, polished pontil marks or wear on the base, and characteristic greyish hues in the lead glass under specific lighting. Cut facets show slight variations in alignment indicative of manual wheel cutting.

These compact glassware items can be arranged on a bar cart, displayed inside a glass-fronted cabinet, or styled atop a tray on a sideboard to add historical detail to entertaining spaces.

Hand washing in tepid water with a mild liquid soap using a soft cloth is recommended. Dishwashers and sudden temperature changes must be avoided to prevent thermal shock or etching.
