Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian display cabinet is made from warm brown timber with a polished finish, standing on a rectangular plinth base with gilded lettering reading Lathams Bride Cakes. The structure comprises a corniced top, turned corner columns, glazed side panels, a rear latched wooden door, and two internal glass shelves. General usage wear is evident across the piece. It measures 70 cm high, 41 cm wide, and 41 cm deep. Suitable for use in a living room, dining room, or hallway, this cabinet provides tabletop or sideboard display storage for collections, ornaments, or decorative items. The compact proportions allow it to sit easily on top of a sideboard or counter surface while offering visibility from multiple sides through the glass panels.

FAQs

Edwardian commercial display cases feature clean geometric frames, high-clarity glass panels, and slim timber moulding. Designed for retail shop counters, they often incorporate hand-gilded advertising lettering along the timber base or upper frieze to promote specific wares.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted using native hardwoods such as oak or mahogany for the framing, fitted with sheet glass panels and interior glass shelves supported by brass brackets. Base plinths frequently featured incised or hand-painted gold leaf lettering.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, original brass shelf supports, and period glazing with minor wave distortions. Gilded typography will show natural age-related wear and craquelure rather than uniform modern printing.

Retail display cases make striking focal points on kitchen islands, sideboards, or desks. They serve as dust-free enclosures to curate collections of ceramics, glassware, books, or decorative oddities within contemporary or classic settings.

Clean glass surfaces with a microfibre cloth lightly dampened with water, avoiding ammonia-based chemical cleaners near gilded lettering or timber joints. Apply a natural beeswax polish to the timber framework once or twice a year to preserve the moisture balance.
