This Georgian gin glass dates from the 18th century and originates in England, made from clear lead glass. The vessel features a flared trumpet bowl with a smooth surface, resting on an intricate stem defined by a shoulder knop and a basal knop, and terminates in a broad circular folded foot. The glass stands 13.5 cm high. This piece suits placement on a sideboard top in a gentleman's library, providing an authentic historic accent for display. Crafted in clear glass with a polished finish, the piece shows a reflective surface on the bowl and along the balustroid stem. The construction employs traditional techniques typical of mid-Georgian drinking vessels, combining a tapering bowl profile with substantial knops for grip and balance. The proportions provide a stable footing while maintaining the delicate aesthetic typical of the period. Collectors of early English glassware will find this piece a practical addition to a cabinet or for decorative arrangement in a traditional interior setting.

A Georgian gin glass is a small glass drinking vessel manufactured in Britain during the 18th century, designed specifically for consuming spirits such as gin or cordials.

Mid-18th-century English glassware was primarily made from heavy lead glass, hand-blown using a blowpipe and shaped with hand tools, resulting in distinct pontil marks and knopped stems.

Authentic pieces typically feature a snapped or ground pontil mark underneath the foot, a greyish tint from lead content, slight asymmetry from hand-blowing, and period-appropriate stem formations such as knops.

Antique stemware can be displayed inside a lit glazed cabinet, arranged on a brass drinks tray, or styled on a sideboard alongside period decanters.

Hand wash gently in lukewarm water using a mild detergent, avoiding hot water temperatures that cause thermal shock, and dry immediately with a soft microfibre cloth.
