Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of European Art Deco bedside tables dates from 1930 and comes in African rosewood with a warm brown wood veneer finish. Each piece has a single top drawer, a side shelf for book storage, a lower cupboard, and an open storage area, all accented by chrome and burgundy phenolic handles and raised on block feet. Fitted glass protective tops offer practical utility. Each table measures 61.5 cm high, 51 cm wide, and 38 cm deep. Such cabinets suit a bedroom as bedside tables, providing structured storage for books, lamps, and evening essentials while adding period character to domestic spaces.

FAQs

Art Deco bedside tables typically feature geometric silhouettes, asymmetrical forms, bold veneered surfaces, and integrated storage compartments, reflecting the architectural trends of the 1920s and 1930s.

Craftsmen during this period frequently utilised exotic timber veneers, such as walnut, maple, and oak, often combining them with Bakelite or brass hardware and solid hardwood inner frames.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period construction techniques, such as hand-cut dovetail joints, original period handles, genuine timber veneer over solid bases, and natural signs of age within the drawers and interior surfaces.

Position the pair on either side of an upholstered bed frame, balancing their geometric shapes with modern ceramic table lamps and minimal decorative accessories.

Dust the timber surfaces regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish occasionally, keeping the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or fading.
