This Jacobean Revival grandmother clock dates from around 1900 and stands in warm brown oak with brass and glass components. The tall case presents an arched hood flanked by turned barley twist columns, a glazed brass dial face with Roman numerals, and a trunk door decorated with recessed geometric panel moulding and a central diamond projection. A smaller matching geometric panel and diamond motif adorns the plinth base, while small bun feet support the structure on the floor. Standing at 163 cm high, 31 cm wide and 22 cm deep, the floor clock fits well in a hallway, study, or living room as a traditional timekeeper with an eight-day movement striking on the hours and quarters.

A grandmother clock is a free-standing, pendulum-driven clock that shares the design of a longcase or grandfather clock but stands at a shorter height, typically between four and six feet tall.

These pieces are predominantly crafted from solid oak or oak veneers, featuring brass or silvered brass dials, glass hood windows, and hand-carved decorative trim.

Key features include barley twist columns, geometric panel moulding, dark timber finishes, and classical brass dial spandrels popularised during early 20th-century revival movements.

Position the clock in a hallway, reading corner, or landing where its vertical lines and rich wood grain can complement neutral architectural backdrops.

Dust the exterior regularly with a soft cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish occasionally, keeping the wood away from direct heat sources and damp environments.
