This quality antique Victorian sewing box dates from 1860 and takes the form of a rectangular timber case in a rich medium-brown tone with a polished finish. The design includes a curved-profile lift-up lid decorated with a central rectangular brass inlay set within a geometric marquetry border, complemented by a matching keyhole escutcheon on the front drop. The lift-up lid opens to reveal an internal tray with fitted compartments positioned above a lower storage section. Measuring 14 cm high, 30 cm wide and 22 cm deep, the box rests on a polished burl wood surface against a plain wall background. Such a piece serves as a functional storage accessory for sewing supplies or small keepsakes on a desktop, side table, or dressing chest in a traditional or period interior.
