Description:
This antique mahogany railway station wall clock has a timepiece movement and dates from circa 1930. After a loving restoration, it is now in good working order. In addition, the clock boasts a beautiful dark mahogany case with a moulded brass bezel. There is also a pendulum access door on the underside.
Restored Single Barrel Spring Timepiece Movement:
The clock houses a quality single brass barrel spring driven timepiece movement. However, a timepiece does not chime or strike. Our workshop has restored and serviced the movement, so it is now in good mechanical order. As a result, this clock is reliable and keeps good time.
You can reach the pendulum through the door below, where it hangs from the movement. You can also adjust the pendulum length to regulate the speed of the clock. The clock comes with a key. You use it to wind the movement through the face dial.
French Polished Mahogany Case:
We have French polished the mahogany case. This revives the wonderful colour and patination of the grain in the timber. On the back of the clock, a bracket lets you hang the clock on the wall.
Roman Numeral Dial, Hands & Brass Bezel:
The clock has a replacement tin dial, painted with black Roman numerals. It also has an elegant shaped hour and minute hand. A hinged, solid brass bezel holds the glass, which protects the dial. The bezel opens on a right-hand hinge, so you can adjust or set the time. Furthermore, a catch at the back of the clock locks the bezel in place. This stops it from swinging open by accident.
This antique mahogany railway wall clock dates from circa 1930. We have lovingly restored it to its former glory, and it is now in good working order. There are nominal old use marks to the case and tin dial. However, there is nothing significant, given the age of the clock.
The tin dial is a replacement, fitted at some point in the past. The brass-hinged bezel is in good working order, although there is some play to the hinge. The bezel-locking latch is present and working, and it keeps the bezel shut.
The spring movement is original. We have cleaned and serviced it, so it is in good working order and keeps good time.
