Full Product Description:

This particular clock boasts a beautiful mahogany case, complete with a moulded brass bezel, a pendulum access door underneath, and a mechanism-viewing door on the left-hand side, so you can watch the movement while it runs.

Smiths Movement & Timepiece Mechanism:

This 15-inch mahogany wall clock houses a top-quality, single-barrel, spring-driven English Smiths timepiece movement. Originally, manufacturers shipped these movements out to India and cased them locally there, which reduced shipping costs at the time. Because a timepiece mechanism does not chime or strike, this clock ticks quietly rather than sounding the hour. We have restored and serviced the movement, so it now runs reliably and keeps good time.

Adjusting the Pendulum:

You can access the detachable, adjustable pendulum through the door on the underside of the case. Since lengthening or shortening the pendulum regulates the clock's speed, you can easily fine-tune the timekeeping once the clock is on the wall – this may be required as room temperature varies from location to location and temperature can affect the clock speed; therefore, final adjustments may be required once the clock is on your wall.

Winding the Clock:

The clock comes with a brass winding key, which you use to wind the mechanism through the centre of the dial. Because it is a timepiece rather than a chiming clock, you only need to wind the single spring barrel, so winding takes moments.

Case, Bezel & Viewing Doors:

Our workshop French-polished the mahogany case by hand, reviving the wonderful colour and patination of the timber's grain. This clock also features a "deep dish" case design, which means the case sits slightly deeper than the more common 16-inch clocks, giving it a noticeably better-quality feel. On the back of the clock, a bracket lets you fix it securely to the wall.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A dial wall clock is a circular timepiece encased in a turned timber surround, historically installed in railway stations, schools, and civic buildings across Great Britain for high visibility and reliable timekeeping.

These timepieces typically feature turned solid mahogany or oak surrounds, cast brass bezels fitted with glass, hand-painted metal dial faces, and mechanical brass movements.

Authentic Smiths wall clocks feature distinct brand lettering on the dial, a brass hinged glass bezel, a turned timber casing with age-appropriate patination, and winding apertures for mechanical key access.

Hang the clock centrally above a console table, sideboard, or mantelpiece to create a focal point that adds historical depth to contemporary and traditional interior schemes.

Dust the wood casing with a dry cloth, clean the glass bezel gently without liquid contact on the dial plate, and arrange professional mechanical servicing every five to seven years.
