Wonderful Antique English Burl Walnut Table / Jewelry Box C.1850

Description

It's been a few years since I last had one of these wonderfully shaped boxes with rounded edges, covered in rich, nutty Burr Walnut.

The cast handle to the top is polished brass with a brass stud above and below to stop the handle from bruising the box's surface.

The original clasp to the front is nickel, suggesting that all fittings were originally nickel on brass with the handle now with all brass showing, this is confirmed by the long hinge at the back being mixed metal finishes.

The interior has been professionally re-lined in an attractive hand-marbled paper, creating a good clean and fresh finish ready for use today.

Excellent condition, measuring 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 3 3/4" tall. Victorian in era, c.1850.
