Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A fusee wall clock is a mechanically driven timepiece that incorporates a cone-shaped pulley wrapped with a chain or gut line to equalize the power output of the mainspring as it unwinds. This mechanical design ensured consistent timekeeping accuracy throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.

Traditional 19th-century drop dial clocks were typically constructed from mahogany or oak cases, often enhanced with brass stringing inlay, cast brass bezels, painted iron dials, and glass covers protecting the mechanical movement inside.

Authentic period fusee clocks feature cast brass bezels, heavy brass clock movements with chain or gut fusee mechanisms, hand-painted metal dials, and joinery techniques consistent with historical cabinetmaking, such as hand-cut dovetails on the back box.

A fusee wall clock serves as a strong focal point when mounted on a neutral painted wall, above a console table, or within a hallway. The rich mahogany tone and warm brass details complement both traditional and contemporary interior schemes.

Maintain the mahogany case by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the clock away from direct heat sources and high humidity to protect the wood case and brass inlay from warping or oxidisation.
