Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian display cabinets typically feature lighter proportions than earlier Victorian furniture, drawing influence from 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs. They frequently incorporate fine mahogany timber, satinwood or boxwood stringing, and geometric astragal glazing bars.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, accented with boxwood or satinwood inlay and stringing. Glazed doors contain glass panes held within wooden astragal frames, housing internal glass or fabric-lined timber shelves.

Look for period joinery methods such as hand-cut dovetails on internal frame elements, hand-blown glass with subtle surface variations, and genuine wood marquetry inlay rather than printed transfers. Authentic period examples also exhibit natural age patination across timber surfaces and brass fittings.

Position the cabinet against a neutral or rich dark wall to create visual contrast while highlighting the timber tone. Style the internal glass shelves sparingly with ceramics, glassware, or small sculpture pieces to maintain an uncluttered aesthetic.

Dust the wooden surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply natural beeswax sparingly along the grain once or twice a year. Clean the glass panes using a mild glass cleaner sprayed directly onto a microfibre cloth to prevent liquid from seeping into the wooden glazing bars.
