Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cataloguer’s note

Written by Sellingantiques from the dealer’s photographs and listing
  • Period19th century
  • SizeH 17 cm (7 in) x W 30 cm (12 in) x D 22 cm (9 in)

This antique Victorian Tunbridge ware vanity box dates from 1880 and measures 17 cm high, 30 cm wide and 22 cm deep. The piece is constructed from burl wood with rich brown tones, presenting a polished finish across its exterior surfaces. Geometric banding frames the top lid and the front drop-down panel, while inlaid mother-of-pearl diamond escutcheons accent both areas, with a keyhole piercing the lower diamond. The lift-up lid opens to reveal a purple fitted interior containing eight glass bottles and pots with silver-plated tops, accompanied by a lifting front tray that exposes a storage compartment below, an interior mirror fitted inside the lid, and a secret compartment with sections at the bottom of the box. In a modern interior, this vanity box serves as a functional dressing table accessory for organising small personal items, or functions as a decorative storage container placed upon a side table, chest of drawers or desk in a bedroom or living space.
