Rare Japanese antique (early 20thC) lacquer relief letter box (fubako) depicting a house and landscape design (mountains and pine tree). The box contains two small windows that contain a liquid mixed with mercury or silver powder, which move when tilted. Original cord and wooden box. 21.6cm long x 6.7cm wide x 4.7cm high.
