Also Antique Furniture has dated this Qing Dynasty Lacquer Cabinet to the 19th Century.
The upper section is enclosed by a pair of glazed doors, each incorporating relief-carved and gilt panels depicting figures within traditional landscapes. Below, a larger cupboard is enclosed by a pair of black lacquered panel doors decorated in gilt with birds amongst flowering branches and inscribed with Chinese characters.

The inscriptions translate as 'Prolong Life' to the left-hand panel and 'Wealth and Good Fortune' to the right, reflecting traditional Chinese wishes for longevity and prosperity. Beneath the cupboard are two drawers fitted with shaped brass handles, and the cabinet stands on square supports with carved corner brackets.

Both decorative and practical, this cabinet offers useful storage while serving as an attractive focal point.

Overall, this is a well-preserved example with honest signs of age that do not detract from its appearance or functionality.

As with all antique and vintage furniture, this piece has been used and enjoyed over many years and should be expected to show signs of age and use.
