Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This industrial bank of drawers dates from the 1920 period and provides multi-compartment storage through its fifty-four individual small compartments. The construction comprises steel in a dark grey colourway, finished with a clear lacquer over traces of old green paint, complemented by brass cup pulls, integrated card holders, and exposed rivet detailing along the side edges. Visible signs of age and handling include patinated hardware, surface wear across the dark metal body, and minor repairs to a couple of the drawer handles. The unit measures 132 cm high, 122 cm wide, and 51 cm deep. Suitable for use within an industrial loft or workspace interior, this storage cabinet functions practically as a filing cabinet for small items, stationery, or hardware collections. The vertical multi-drawer layout offers organisational utility while maintaining a distinct utilitarian aesthetic. Placed against a wall in a study, studio, or hallway, the piece provides surface display space on top alongside accessible compartmentalised storage below.

FAQs

Originating in late 19th and early 20th-century factories, offices, and workshops, an industrial bank of drawers is a multi-compartment metal cabinet designed for organised component and document storage.

These pieces were typically constructed from heavy-gauge folded sheet steel or iron, reinforced with rivets, and fitted with brass or cast iron cup pulls featuring integrated label frames.

Authentic examples exhibit genuine wear such as surface oxidisation, age-appropriate patina around hand-contact points, folded steel joinery, and heavy-duty functional hardware.

Pair the dark metallic tones with warm timber elements, neutral walls, and contemporary ceramics to create a balanced contrast between raw utilitarian functionality and soft living textures.

Clean surface dust with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a thin layer of clear microcrystalline wax to protect raw steel from humidity and seal existing surface oxidisation.
