Description

This very good quality ENGLISH LEATHER LETTER BOX dates from circa 1875.

It has two apertures for letters, either side of the handle, which are titled, in embossed gilt, ANSWERED and UNANSWERED.

The brass lock is stamped J.T. NEEDS, 6 DOWN STREET, PICCADILLY, late BRAMAH 128 PICCADILLY.

The teeth on this lock have been cut at some stage, presumably because the key was lost and BRAMAH locks were virtually unpickable.

The BOX is in good, original condition. The Leather has matured well.
