Large Mahogany Artist’s Box with Original Contents

Description

A more unusual mahogany cased Windsor and Newton artist’s box "Illuminating Colours and Materials" box with the original glass pots of paint (used). There is a storage compartment underneath with more pots of paint and other supplies. Either side are the original cut crystal water bowls (one broken).

The brass pin is removed allowing the drawer to be opened by the flush campaign style brass handle revealing a wonderful drawer full of goodies. There is a tower of mixing pots, tubes of paint and other supplies.

The interior of the lid retains it's wonderful colourful label, fully intact. The box is made from solid Mahogany with wear commensurate with age. The box dates to the Victorian era, around 1870.
