A beautiful and unusual antique alabaster egg-shaped jewellery box, dating to circa 1900, finely crafted and featuring a charming hand and pearl decoration to the lid. This elegant decorative trinket box is both tactile and substantial, making it a striking display piece as well as a practical storage item.

The box is formed in the shape of a large egg, carved from solid alabaster and finished with a hinged opening. A delicately engraved border band runs around the edge where the two halves meet, adding further refinement to the design.

Heavy and well-made, the box has a pleasing smooth polished surface and a lovely natural stone character. Its generous size makes it ideal for storing jewellery, rings, trinkets, or keepsakes, while also serving as an elegant decorative object for a dressing table, vanity, or display cabinet.

Condition
