Hi
I have for sale a beautiful double fusee dial clock made in Birmingham by James Woodwis I would date this clock to around 1880, in a solid mahogany wood regulator case this would have cost mega money in the day.
This clock is in beautiful original condition with the two doors at the top with a large opening front door with the original key.
The clock movement is simply stunning I have never seen such a well built movement thick plates and a five pillar movement , I have serviced the movement it is signed on the back by the maker.
The Case
The case is a regultor case in solid mahogany wood and stands 100cm high x 42 cm in width and 20cm in depth. It is in original condition, well-waxed and loved over the years and presented to you in beautiful condition, ready to hang and enjoy.
The case is very old and has a few small age-related dings but you would have to look very close to see them looks great on the wall and so different.
To the top of the clock is the stee
...l hanging bracket.
The Dial
The dial is in original condition, painted white with Roman numerals and signed also with a picture of a man in blue with a rake.
The Movement
The movement is an eight-day time and strike double fusee it is a thick plated heavy built movement, which I have fully serviced.
The fusee barrels are run via gut and still pendulum and a winding key.
The strike is on a massive gong inside the case and sounds amazing as it resonates out of the old case
.This movement is of top quality with a five-pillar movement.
Overall, if you''re looking for a double fusee English dial clock from 1800s this is the one it is simply stunning and will keep serving for many years to come I wish these clocks could talk. What a story this one would have to tell.
If you require any more information or pictures, please ask. You are welcome to come and view the clock.
I will not post but might use any van to deliver so I ask for half this cost.
