We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Dutch marquetry is a decorative woodworking technique originating in the Netherlands, characterized by intricate floral, foliate, bird, and vase patterns laid into dark wood veneers using contrasting light timbers.

These cabinets are predominantly constructed with walnut, oak, or mahogany bases, decorated using inlaid fruitwoods, boxwood, and holly, often featuring glass panel doors and brass hardware.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut marquetry veneers, hand-planed backboards, period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, and genuine age-related wear or oxidisation on the timber and glass.

Position the cabinet in an unutilised corner to add visual warmth, balance the detailed woodwork with neutral walls, and use the glazed upper shelves to display ceramics, glassware, or curated collectibles.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, and keep the item away from direct heat sources or damp environments to prevent veneer lifting.
