A Fine Original "Apple" Tea Caddy

19th century
Description

A fine late 18th/early 19th century fruitwood TEA CADDY in the form of an apple. It has acquired a fine warm patina with its traditional oval steel key escutcheon to the front. Complete with a “button” stalk handle to the top, the lid opens to reveal the lovely interior which retains most of its original lead lining, with steel hinge and curved steel lock. A fine example.
