Underneath there is a glazed panel so you can see if there is any post and series pigeons holes each designed for sorting incoming letters and telegrams — the lower section still bears its original metal “TELEGRAMS” plaque. There is also a small tray for collecting and carrying the day’s mail. Crafted in solid oak with a warm, mellow patina, the piece has side carrying handles and all the quiet practicality you’d expect from a well-run country estate. Both decorative and functional, it makes a wonderful hallway feature or a characterful addition to a study or office.
