19th century hand painted rustic swedish box circa 1850.

Good quality near square decorative strong box. made from solid pine and hand painted in the traditional scandinavian way, with florals on top of a muted dark green base colour.

Original paintwork, metal strap work, carrying handles and hinges. working lock and key. hinged lid opens to reveal a natural pine interior for storage.

Clear evidence of natural shrinkage to pine plank top. evidence of dead/inactive treated worm. 2 later restorations to side frame of lid. surface fading to painted surface.
